Born and raised in Ohio, Todd Miller is a dedicated family man who enjoys helping clients with their Workers’ Compensation cases. He has been protecting Ohio’s injured workers’ for over 13 years.

Todd knew at a young age that he wanted to be a lawyer. He has worked for Hochman and Plunkett for 6 years and is Board Certified in Workers’ Compensation. He has also been an Ohio Super Lawyer for several years. In Todd’s spare time, he enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife and three children.

When asked Todd about a certain case that he remembers, he brought up this case::

One of the most personally rewarding workers’ compensation cases that I have been involved with, unfortunately, involved the death of our client’s husband. After months of frustration and lack of action on her claim, the widow came to our office seeking assistance.  Her husband had been killed at a job site when he was operating a cherry picker.  He was working alone and the exact circumstances of his death were unknown.  He was found by a fellow co-worker crushed between the cherry picker and a roof overhang.

The widow was frustrated with the system and was experiencing financial difficulties as a result of her husband’s death.  The employer was arguing that her husband had died of natural causes, specifically a heart attack.  With the help of expert witnesses, we were able to establish that the employer’s theory was medically unsupported given the circumstances of the worker’s death.  As a result, we were successful in establishing the widow’s entitlement to workers’ compensation benefits after a series of hearings at the Industrial Commission of Ohio.

This case was rewarding not only because we were successful, but because we were able to help someone in need.  The widow was unfamiliar with the workers’ compensation system and was trying to establish her entitlement to workers’ compensation benefits against an employer aggressively trying to say otherwise.

In the course of several meetings, conversations and hearings, I developed a relationship of trust and respect with the widow.  Given her circumstances, it was easy to feel compassion for her situation.  Beyond compassion, however, we were able to get results.  Although she remains without the companionship of her husband, she has been able to more easily meet the financial difficulties with the help of the benefits provided through Ohio workers’ compensation.
